Decoding IPMAT Indore (IIM after Class 12!)

Is there any secured and bright professional course apart from Engineering and Medical just after Class 12? Answer to this question is IPM (Integrated Programme of Management) Course of IIM Indore which offers a 5 year Integrated BBA-MBA programme to all Class 12 passout students independent of their stream (Science, Arts and Commerce)!

                        In the last decade, through IPM programme, IIM Indore opened corporate leadership role for 18-20 year old Class 12 pass outs! Success of this programme can be marked in the fact that presently 5 IIMs, IIFT, NLU Hyderabad and NIRMA University have started this course and even more IIMs and Institutions of repute are in pipeline. Due to New Education Policy’s thrust on integrated course after Class 12, IPM is cited as future of Management education. What makes this course so special – its unique curriculum, world class academic and corporate exposure and a perfect blend of theoretical and practical learning coupled with much  lesser completion to enter inside an IIM which offers one of the best paid starting job with salary range of 18 lakh to 36 lakh p.a. on successful completion of the course.

 To get admission into this glorious programme, a student has to clear IPM-AT. This is conducted in the month of May-June every year.

                        To be eligible for this, a student should be less than 20 years old (by 1st August) and must have scored minimum 60% marks in the qualifying exams(class 12).

                        Selection procedure involves 2 stages-Aptitude Test (AT) and Personal Interview (PI).

Structure of AT: This is a 2 hour exams which gives equal weightage to Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. A total of 60 questions is to be solved in 120 minutes. The break up is as follows:

For every right answer 4 marks is allotted and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong (MCQ) answer.

                        Students who clear sectional and overall cut-off are called for Personal Interview. During PI a candidate is mainly evaluated on the basis of level of confidence, communication skill, persuasion skill, knowledge and general awareness.

                        Final selection is based on C.S. (Composite Score) based on weights of AT Score (65%) and PI (35%)

Cut-off of AT Score varies on difficulty level and no of applicants. Last 2 year’s cut-off trend will help present and future aspirants to chalk out their exam strategy.

It should be noted that Final result(Merit List) is declared by 3rd -4th week of July and course commences usually from August. No of sanctioned seats in 2022 batch is 150 with reservation as per GOI norms.

                        During the first 3 year of BBA course. Students are taught subjects of various disciplines – Humanities, Management, Mathematics for Managers and foreign language. After successful completion of 3 years course, students receive degree of BBA from #IIM. At this point they have exit option or they can continue their MBA with the same batch which get admission after clearing #CAT. So, in  nutshell, they get entry into  MBA programme of IIM Indore at much less competition (No. of IPMAT takers are around 17 thousand vs no. of CAT takers are around 2 lakh) but get the most lucrative corporate leadership role with average salary range of 20 – 30 lakh per annum.

So, if you are a class 10/11/12 Student or you have such a student in your family or vicinity, don’t just follow orthodox career options, explore IPM of IIM Indore (& other IIMs- Ranchi, Rohtak, Bodhgaya, Jammu and IIFT) and if you (or/and your ward) want a high end start towards a corporate leadership role after Class 12, give a serious thought (and preparation too!) to IPMAT.
